The Dance of Duality
Ā
We live in a world of paradoxāa space where opposites exist simultaneously. Lately, I have been holding space for others, yet also recognizing where Iāve failed to hold space for myself. This imbalance has illuminated where Iāve been overextending, neglecting boundaries, and feeling creatively drained. Itās a reflection of lessons I once ignored, now returning with greater intensity, urging me to face them.
Ā
Resistance arises in these moments, making it difficult to step forward and receive the medicine within them. Yet, paradoxically, it is in these times of struggle that the greatest support appears. When I feel I cannot continue, a voice reminds me of my strength, a gesture of care offers encouragement. Life is always presenting balanceāit is only our perception that blinds us to it.
Ā
Chasing vs. Allowing
Ā
What has surfaced for me in these moments is the call to stop chasing and allow. As Chief Alfonso often says, āIf it is of Spirit, be patient; it is already yours. If it is of the ego, we want it now.ā This wisdom speaks to the energetic flow of life: when we desperately grasp for something, it evades us, yet when we surrender, it naturally finds its way to us.
Ā
Mastering this requires trustātrust that what is meant for us will come in its own time, trust in the natural circuit of energy that moves through giving and receiving. And yet, receiving has been a lesson I have long struggled with.
Ā
Healing the Block to Receiving
Ā
I have often given too much, unconsciously blocking my ability to receive. This resistance is not just emotional; it is imprinted in my body. As a teenager, I broke my left wrist multiple timesāa physical manifestation of my resistance to receiving. Now, I work to rewrite that story.
Ā
Honoring the flow of life means recognizing our worthiness to receive, knowing when to pause, and understanding that true giving comes from the heart, not from expectation. When we give with the intent to receive, we remain trapped in the egoās illusion of transaction. But when we give freely, we become part of lifeās natural rhythm, and sustenance flows effortlessly.
Ā
Embracing the Paradox
Ā
The paradoxes of life are ever-present. They teach us that everything exists within its opposite and that our role is to navigate these extremes with grace. We are called to step into the dance of giving and receiving, to trust in balance, and to surrender to the guidance of the universe.
As Rumi so beautifully says:
"When the soul lies down in that grass, the world is too full to talk about. Ideas, languageāeven the phrase each otherādoesnāt make any sense.ā
Ā
It is in this surrender that we find the fullness of life.
